What are chordophones?

We like the word chordophone because it includes many instruments not found in the standard western orchestra. When we think of stringed instruments we never know where to put the piano or even the guitar. Chordophone fits perfectly!

chordophone [ˈkɔːdəˌfəʊn] n.

(Music / Instruments) any musical instrument producing sounds through the vibration of strings, such as the piano, harp, violin, or guitar
